The Némethy Horseback Archery Academy is a key developer and active shaper of both Hungarian and international horseback archery, as well as a guardian of its traditions. Our goal is to create the conditions for joyful and successful participation in the sport. Every member of the Némethy Horseback Archery Academy works to make horseback archery accessible to everyone, regardless of whether they are professional athletes or hobbyists. We support the formation of new communities, organize knowledge-sharing programs, and promote a love for the sport among athletes and fans alike. Through a modern, experience-based approach, we aim to inspire those interested in horseback archery in all that we do.
Focus - Commitment - Connection
The Némethy Horseback Archery Academy is a dedicated community operating on family, friendship, national, and international foundations. At our horseback riding base in the Hungarian Castle of Pomáz, we regularly welcome both international and local visitors who seek adventure and wish to learn from our world-class coaches shaping the everyday practice of horseback archery.
2006, 2007
In 2006, Christoph Nemethy was ranked 10th in Lajos Kassai's ranking, and a year later he was already in 5th place. This impressive progress inspired the founding of the Nemethy Academy. The founders, confident in their knowledge and skills, began holding horseback, archery, and horseback archery training sessions, initially abroad.
2008, 2009
In 2008 and 2009, Christoph Nemethy won the gold medal at the Eocha - Open Horseback Archery European Championship. This was the first time we were invited to hold training camps abroad: our first camps were in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and France. We felt the need to be present on home ground as well. We started training in Pomáz and building a team.
2011.04.16
The fruit of the previous years' work was a small team that started training in Pomáz, on the grounds of the Hungarian Castle. The establishment of the Association institutionalized the commitment to horseback archery.
2015.
In 2015, the first students also competed at the Deutche Meiserschaft in Germany. Agnes Maucha won gold in the youth category on both the Hungarian and Korean courses, while her brother Levente Maucha placed 3rd on the Hungarian course. Christoph Nemethy also won gold on both the Hungarian and Korean courses. This competition provided a complete picture of the success of the Nemethy method. We can say that there has been no stopping since then.
2016
We have always placed great emphasis on our international connections. The IHAA is the international organization for horseback archery. Our official membership opened the way for us to reach the international elite.
2016
International training camps are a highlight of the Academy's programs. The week-long intensive horseback, archery, and horseback archery training sessions focus on harmonizing the body, emotions, and thoughts. Participants experience growth beyond their perceived individual abilities. Furthermore, we view our training camps as a platform for community building, where lifelong friendships are formed.
2017
Hungarian, Korean, Battle Track were the first competition events at the first international competition organized by the Nemethy Academy. 41 competitors from 12 countries participated in the event.

The success of athletes also depends on well-prepared coaches. Athletes from many countries come to learn from top archery and horseback archery coaches in the world, focusing on youth development and working with children and young people, or to pass on their knowledge to hobby athletes in the best possible way.

The focus is not only on archery, horseback riding, and horseback archery but also on essential pedagogical, psychological, leadership, and organizational knowledge for coaches to feel most secure during their training sessions with hobby and competitive athletes. The well-being of the horses is equally important.

The professionalism and great atmosphere of the Autumn Horseback Archery Championship inspired us to organize the Spring Horseback Archery Championship. We also need to learn event management and competition organization. We would like our students to participate in the preparation and execution of the competition tasks as much as possible. Depending on their interest, they can learn the tricks of event organization, from photography and drone handling to course building and administrative tasks.

Community building, a celebration of sport. For us, competitions are not just contests but also celebrations of the sport. These are occasions when we meet, connect, and exist together towards a common goal. Alongside individual performance, camaraderie, attention to one another, and support hold equal value.
It is typical for our competitors to fight not only for themselves but also to help each other during competitions – whether it's encouragement, technical assistance, or simply being present. But the community doesn't stop at the field: parents, siblings, and friends actively participate in the Academy's life, often contributing to the success of events through volunteer work.
This community is our true strength – where everyone matters, and everyone can contribute something to the shared experience.

Learning can also be fun! The goal of the page is to provide participants with more experience and enjoyment by completing short tasks in the challenges. All of this is done online, encompassing both archery and horseback riding. The challenges are designed so that beginners can participate, but the master challenge is also an inspiration for professionals.

Youth development. One of the Academy's most important tasks is to ensure that the "next generation" also performs successfully in competitions. Our Hungarian championships provide excellent opportunities not only for advanced competitors but also for beginners and intermediate categories to have motivation to improve. The experience of success is crucial on the path of development.

Our Academy is...
... a sports center where competitive horseback archery can be practiced at a high level.
... a training venue where we teach both youth and adults, from beginners to advanced levels.
... a place where traditional horseback archery connects with the modern online world.
The main activities of our Academy include
- holding regular horseback archery training sessions and courses for all age groups,
- organizing and participating in national and international competitions,
- operating and developing a unique online training system and gamified learning platform, making the theory and practice of horseback archery accessible to everyone — without geographical or physical limitations.
We believe that horseback archery is not just a sport but a way of life, a path to character development, and a shared community experience. Our goal is to ensure that future generations also understand and feel what it means to be a horseback archer: to respect nature, discipline the mind, strengthen the body — all together, for one another.
